Compare Redax Pro and Redax

What is Redax Pro?
Redax Pro is a standalone Windows application for the purpose of redacting PDF documents. It does not require an Acrobat installation.

How does Redax Pro differ from Redax?
The Redax product is a plug-in to Acrobat. All of the Redax menu items exist under
a single Redax menu in Acrobat. Redax users are executing the Redax tools inside the
Acrobat application.

The Redax Pro application was built as a standalone application to provide viewing of PDF pages and functions specific to the redaction process.

Because it is a complete application, its functions are spread across more
than one menu item. Keyboard shortcuts for commonly used functions are present. For
example, Ctrl-R will redact the currently open document.

The preferences are all present in a single dialog, with tabs for each subset,
Options, Redaction Properties, and default values for Redax boxes.

Redax Pro provides a Welcome window which serves as a list of recently visited files.

Exemption codes are accessed from a list in the document window, rather than as floating
palettes.

Redax Pro includes the ability to stamp permanent text into PDF files. For example adding disclaimers and release dates to final redacted documents.

How are Redax Pro and Redax similar?
Both products provide the same base set of dialogs, e.g., Find Using List, Find Using
Pattern, etc. The dialogs look and act the same in both products.

The code used to find text to be redacted is common to both products.

Where possible, keyboard shortcuts are the same between the two products. For example,
preferences are invoked via Ctrl-K. Document properties are invoked via Ctrl-D.

The redaction workflow in Redax Pro is the same as in Redax. Setting preferences,
marking up the document to be redacted, redacting and saving happen in both products.
