Appligent Document Solutions and callas software, acknowledged leaders in PDF electronic document technology for over a decade, today announced a strategic partnership aimed at broadening awareness of both companies’ products in their respective markets and distribution channels.
“We’re very excited to be working with callas,” said Appligent Document Solutions CEO Duff Johnson. “callas’s deep experience with quality assurance for PDF files in the print industry positioned them as the leading PDF/A solutions provider, while our focus has always been business document management,” he said. “This alliance will allow us to present callas’s expertise alongside our own, a combination that we believe will be extremely powerful,” Johnson stated.
Based in Berlin, callas software maintains a variety of sales channels worldwide with a concentration in Europe and Asia. Based near Philadelphia, Appligent also serves worldwide reseller channels, but retains a focus in North America.
The two companies will pursue a number of activities, including a joint marketing effort designed to expand awareness and adoption of ISO 19005, the PDF/A standard for archiving PDF documents.
“Appligent Document Solutions is one of the oldest and most respected firms in the PDF space,” said callas software Managing Director Olaf Drümmer. “We’re very pleased to join with them in offering advanced server applications for PDF document management,” he said. “We foresee substantial opportunities for our PDF/A conformance technology with Appligent’s business document management customers,” said Drümmer. “At the same time, our own client-base is very interested in the security and encryption, digital signatures, forms, redaction and other technologies that are longtime specialties for Appligent,” he said.
The two companies did not share specific plans at this time of the announcement. “We’ll be making some announcements in the new year,” said callas software’s Drümmer. “Organizations interested in PDF/A in particular should stay tuned,” Appligent’s Johnson said.
